Contingent Faculty Non-Instructional Duties and Unemployment Insurance Survey

Many contingent (adjunct) faculty perform work for their institutions where they are compensated by stipend instead of the bargained contract instructional rate(s). Work that is paid via a stipend does not count towards health insurance qualification and is not considered in calculations for unemployment benefits or sick leave accrual.

In the interest of promoting equitable working conditions for contingent faculty members, we are asking you to share a little information about your experience with these working conditions.

At the same time, we are trying to get to know more about adjunct experiences with applying for the unemployment benefits they deserve but are too-frequently denied. Please respond below with information that is as accurate as you can provide.
