GPS for the Common Core: Making Decisions While Underway

How can you tell if you’re out of fuel or have major engine problems? Formative assessment is a deliberate way to troubleshoot while students are learning. High quality assessment methods help us to gather dependable information about student achievement. Learn how to use formative assessments while your students are on the road and make immediate corrections to keep them on course.

​Beyond the Grading Game: Performance Assessments and Rubrics

 

Students will reach our high expectations if we put the tools for success in their hands. Rubrics are an effective way to communicate learning goals and encourage deeper understanding of a concept. Learn effective strategies for creating performance assessments that reach all levels of learners and clearly measure the standards they address. Examples of various rubrics will be provided for K-12 teachers along with ways to create valuable assessments that give us the information we need.
